Well, when we were up in Seattle visiting our friends my buddy Paul gave me a Scala Rider FM headset for my helmet.

It works pretty good for listening to the radio on my way to the office and to answer the phone if it rings on my 15 minute commute. I also have the option of using a cable to input my iPod for longer rides. I’ve only really used it to make phone calls when I first put it in the helmet, cause it’s kind of cool to ride along and chat with someone.

Anyhow, on the way to work this morning my the radio goes away and the helmet starts to beep at me. I haven’t actually had anyone call me while I was riding, at least not yet. So, I’m tooling down the road poking buttons on the helmet trying to figure out what the beeping is, saying things like “answer!” “cancel!” “Will you F’n Stop already!” etc, thinking maybe it’s a call coming in, or maybe the voice dialling is wigging out, or the battery is dying. Then I hear this voice in my head say “Good Morning, SeaHarvest”. Huh? Must have hit the right button and it answered a call coming in, “Hello Lynn, what’s up?” “What? Rich is that you?” And a confusing conversation ensues.

Turns out my F’n Crackberry unlocks the previously locked keyboard when the headset activates, and since it was in my pocket, I was hitting it on the gas tank while riding and the beeping noise in my helmet was actually me pushing buttons on the phone until it eventually pocket dialled SeaHarvest.

Technology. Some days it’s just a pain. 🙂

I’m not really sure why, but this is one of my favorite pictures of Molly and Nora. Something about the “We’re going to conquer the World!” feel to the picture maybe.

It makes me think of the English looking up a hill and seeing the Scot’s looking back down at them just before a right nasty brawl happens.

Last night Molly and Nora we’re getting restless playing on the computers so I asked them if they wanted to watch a movie with me.

So we grabbed some ice cream and sat down to watch “The Astronaut Farmer” with Billy Bob Thornton. It’s funny how such a simple thing as watching a movie with the kids can be so satisfying. It was fun. We actually watched the blooper reel and the making of afterwards.

Megan is down in Texas so she wasn’t watching it with us, but she’s having fun. We’ll do another movie night when she gets back.

It’s the little things in life that make it worth while.

The Astonaut Farmer

I was poking around and just discovered that Lane is now part of the rock group Pretty Enemies. I knew he and his brother were in other groups besides the Tap Handles, but this is the first time I’ve seen any info.

Here he is jamming at one of the Gigs.

I taught myself to juggle using tennis balls in th 6th grade. Here is Nora, teaching herself to juggle with scarves, she starts the 6th grade in a month.

My father and Sister used to be Boeing clowns. So, we’re a family of crazy people. (-:

I ran across this and really liked it. Just thought I would share.

Would you believe me if I told you that this “soon to be fingerless” redneck from Texas was one of the smartest computer geeks I know? Ya, I didn’t think so.

Stephanie, his wife posted this pic on picasa and I could resist dogging him over it. (-:

Chris Spillman, of the Seattle band Wren Drive, came down with Lane and Jacob and played some tunes. One of the tunes he played was an old Dave Matthews song called Grave Digger. I think it was one of my favorites that he sang.

When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain

It had an eerie surreal quality to it with his voice.

As a side note. While extremely hung over and preparing for a 19 hour drive back to Seattle, the Fifth of Whiskey in his luggage shattered and soaked all his clothes in the wonderfully nauseating and overpowering smell (with a hangover) of whiskey.

The boys of the TapHandles showed up and spent the weekend with us. Wow did we have a blast. It’s going to take a few days worth of blogging to get caught up. Stories to expect soon.

  • Shirtless Chris
  • Drunken Cab driver
  • One hell of a house party
  • rocking at Jose’s Underground
  • the Boudoir at the East Village Coffee Lounge
  • Shattering the whisky bottle
  • music, music, and more music. 3 bands worth.
