I haven’t been to Mexico since I was a kid. I don’t really think it counted then since it was Tijuan.

Anyhow, when I was down visiting the folks just out of Harlingen TX we decided to go down to Mexico for Margarita’s. We ended up walking across the Rio Grande river

to a town called Nuevo Progreso.

It was fun having Margarita’s down there, however the difference between the haves and the have nots was a bit much for me. It made it somewhat depressing. I would have taken more pictures, but I was uncomfortable flaunting a $300 phone in the middle of people scraping by. I know a lot of the winter Texans don’t bat an eye over it, but it bothered me.

On my ride into work this morning I stopped and took a picture over Monterey Bay. It was a cloudy dark morning. It actually spit a few misty rain drops on me this morning. I’ve missed the rain. It’s been a long time since we’ve had it here.

Lynn and Thomas came down for a few days, and their visit overlapped the 4th of July and the start of the Hollister Rally.

So we met up with a few of my American Legion Rider friends for breakfast and headed to the rally. After breakfast this nice little Rod was sitting in the parking lot. It was a nice start to the sight seeing.

When we first got to the Rally it was still spinning up. It was the first day and still pretty early in the morning. Before we knew it though it was nothing but motorcycles everywhere, vendors, people, etc.

And it wasn’t just Harley’s. There was a contingent of Honda Ruckus there also.

Here’s a picture of Hy chatting with one of the 1940’s style booth babes. Blackmail for later. 🙂

Sis let me borrow her Honda CTX to ride out to the Rally. Her and Thomas doubled up on the Goldwing of his. On the way home we took some back roads and had a fun ride.
