Well, 14 years ago today I was diagnosed as a Type 1 insulin dependent diabetic. 30 years old and I get Juvenile Onset diabetes. Talk about hitting puberty late. Sheesh. (-: 99% of Type one diabetics get it younger than I did. I’m a genetic sport, a throwback, a knock off, an oddity.

14 years of extra living so far. Not bad, not bad at all. I’ve had a battery operated pancreas for the last 6 years now. Minimed insulin pump. Much much better than shots.

I can still remember the doc telling me that I would have to take shots the rest of my life, or die. And me, with a phobia for needles. I’m over that now, at least giving myself shots. Still hate getting shots from someone else, or, ugh, giving blood, shiver.
