As some already know I am now working on the NPOESS contract and as such I have moved from building 704 to building 702. Well, 702 houses the modelers and the NRL folks. NRL being the Naval Research Labs. I knew NRL had a research library, heck I’ve walked past it enough times. Well, today I went in and puttered around a bit and asked one of the people in there how to get access to the books and materials. The reply, just take what you want, just make sure you put it back when you’re done. (-:

Besides all of the journals on meteorology, climate, geology, etc etc etc. There are books and research papers dating back to the 1900’s. I have decided that I will wander into the library on Monday mornings, replacing what I took the week before and just grabbing the first thing that looks interesting. This week I’m reading

THE NORWEGIAN NORTH POLAR EXPEDITION WITH THE “MAUD”

1918-1925

SCIENTIFIC RESULTS

Published by Geofysisk Institutt, Bergen, in co-operation with other institutions

EDITOR H. U. SVERDRUP

Volume II METEOROLOGY

printed by A.S John Griegs Boktrykkeri

I KNOW I KNOW! I’m a Nerd! I know this! I can’t wait to see what I get next week. (-;

FYI I found an article about the Maud expedition on the web. I’ll try to do a quick summary on the paper next week for fun.
