Slashdot is a very popular geek news page. I actually have Slashdot as my home page, so when I started up my laptop this morning and logged into the web the first thing I saw was a blurb called

“The UK’s Fastest Supercomputer”

Hmmm… Gee, I wonder what computer they’re talking about. <grin> It’s nice to be recognized on occasion.

This was actually caused by the article written in the Guardian, which I mentioned in the previous post.

This article about about HECToR just came out in the UK news paper the Guardian.

I had just put up a post talking about my commute to the office and the fact that the office was visible from the new google maps. Then I had to take it down because I read this sentence.

To the untrained eye, it looks like a sports hall half filled with neatly arranged burgundy Ikea storage units. But the series of heavy, clunking security doors that must be navigated to get inside, and the staff’s insistence on secrecy about its precise location, indicate that this is a place of national importance

So, I figured I would take the Google Map linke down that showed my office. Oops.

 Decent article.
