$89 plus shipping and a $30 copy of snow leopard to have a decent Mac.

Now I need to convince Bert we need to drop a quad core in it, a smokin video card, and maybe a terabyte or two hard drive. (-:

FYI. It was a touch unstable doing the updates, the installer died twice on different updates, but once I was on the patched 10.6.4 everything stabilized and is working great.

I'm not sure what to tell you John. Like you I don't have a compsci background so I just teach myself. I hit misc tutorials online and go through the ones that look interesting.

Sorry I can't be more helpful than that.

You're right about there being something missing in the middle of the python class. It does jump big time. Which is a bit odd.

Writer,

I am currently trying to teach myself programming though the MIT open courseware and I am having a terrible time trying to understand what I am supposed to be doing. The first lecture and assignment was very easy to understand. Then, it seemed as if we skipped 1,000,000 chapters. You seem to have a strong grip on programming. That being said, what free resource could I use to learn programming? (keep in mind that I have ZERO computer science background)

Thanks

Hello Howie Firth.

Unfortunately since I moved my blog to wordpress I haven't been able to upload or post music. So, I don't have any of Lesley's music online right now.

I'm poking around trying to figure out a way around that. We'll see.

I would like to add my warmest thoughts about Lesley. I was so very sorry to hear the sad news. I hadn't heard until recently, and I have been looking for more information, and am so glad to find some of her songs on the web. I often think about her and I think there is so much of the land of Scotland in her voice, with its warmth and the way that the songs flow. She was someone special and I think that as time goes on, more and more people will realise this.

Consider Messing About With Cars as an antidote to the nerdiness involved in Messing About With Computers.

(20 points if you recognize the literary allusion. Then subtract them again because of the geekiness involved in Messing About With Books...)

sounds like your rack bushings are dried up and disintegrating... I'm assuming when you say "flat spot" is the steering floats a bit when you have the wheels at dead center... eg, turn the wheel slightly and nothing happens?
