Just as a kick. Here is a link to a page maintained at the NumberWatch website. The website is ”devoted to the monitoring of the misleading numbers that rain down on us via the media“.
Here is a link on that website that is a cited list of all things blamed on by Global Warming. It’s hilarious what can be blamed on a bit of warmth. (-:
One of the things I like to do is research things I don’t know much about. Some things I know more about than others. One of the things I’ve been keeping an eye on the last year or so is the whole debate around Climate Change, AKA Global Warming.
I find it so ironic that scientists, people who are SUPPOSED to question everything, claim that questioning the data and research around Global Warming, sorry Climate Change (not much warming lately), are nothing more than denialists and shouldn’t be allowed to question the science. Hmmm, interesting.
As a point in how far apart the two sides are and why this whole idea of concensus is bogus. One example of why we need to question what we are told by the media and others.
IPCC report graph showing global temperatures. Items of note. Very little temperature rise between 800 and 1300 with a sharp rise after 1950 or so.
Now here is a graph of global temperatures over the last 2000 years by Craig Loehle. This is a graph created WITHOUT using tree ring proxies. If that means nothing to you then, please, do some research. Knowledge is power.
Items of note. Link to the research paper. Higher than norm temperatures between 800 and 1300 (called the Medieval Warm Period) and lower than normal temperatures between about 1450 and 1750 (called the little ice age).
So, why the two charts? These are supposed to be two different studies of the same thing. They show the temperature of the Globe over the last 1000 to 2000 years. The important part in that sentence is the part where they are supposed to represent the SAME thing, global temperature. And yet they show data so vastly different.
One is a highly publicized pointed to chart used to raise money and gain political power. The data and mathematics used to calculate the chart are hidden and aren’t to be questioned. The other is a well documented research paper and open to debate and questioning. Guess which is which.
If you doubt what I write. Research it yourself. Do the research, question everything, poke and prod.
Yep, the rumors are true. We’ve made our plane tickets and will be moving back to the States on the 11th of November. Our Scottish adventure is coming to a close.
There is sadness and expectation both. It will be nice to get back to the states and see friends, it’s also sad that we will not get to experience nearly as much as we wanted to. That’s life I suppose.
I’ve accepted a position back in Monterey, CA. So, surfing, diving, beautiful coastal living here we come.
